Miscellaneous shots of the countryside from my travels through Central Pennsylvania.
Fort Zeller - J. Heinrich Zeller House near Newmanstown, PA.
The original log structure was built in 1723. The present stone structure was buiilt in 1745. The Fort was used as a home when it was first built. When the indian uprisings occurred, it was used as a comnnon gathering place for protection. Later it was used as a place for weaving. One loom is still in place in the building. It was also used as a summer house. It was built above the spring, for protection of the water supply and also for keeping things cool in spring water. The Fort property was in possession of the Zeller family until around 1900.
